What you will learn:

 

  • Prepare and groom dogs prior to bathing
  • Bathe and clean dogs
  • Clean and maintain equipment used for grooming or removing hair from animals
  • Control and restrain animals
  • Dry dogs and prepare their coats for styling
  • Basic trimming of a dog’s coat
  • Maintain the cleanliness and bio security of the animal care working environment

 

Level 3

What you will learn:

  • Carry out styling and finishing of dogs
  • Assess and plan dog grooming work
  • Promote and maintain the health and well-being of animals
  • Health checking a dog by a dog groomer
  • Hand stripping a dog
  • Style and trim a breed standard’s coat
  • Style and trim a short or long legged terrier’s coat
  • Style and trim a drop coat
  • Style and trim a combination coat
  • Carry out a first aid simulation on a dog
  • Carry out a risk assessment
  • Handle payments from clients
  • Welcome, receive and care for visitors
